Telehealth Care & Consent
Last updated October 25, 2026
Care at a distance
Telehealth can allow patients to connect with appropriately licensed healthcare professionals without attending every interaction in person. Depending on the provider, location and nature of the medical issue, care may include secure health forms, messaging, telephone or video consultations.
Clinical evaluation
A clinician may assess medical history, current medications, symptoms, treatment history, allergies, health goals and other factors before determining whether care can be provided remotely. The provider may request further information, a consultation or in-person services, recommend another treatment path, or decide that no prescription is appropriate.
Benefits, limitations and alternatives
Telehealth may make access more convenient, but technical failures, limited physical examination and incomplete information can affect its suitability. You may need an in-person examination, testing or referral. A treating clinician will explain available alternatives when clinically relevant.
Privacy and consent
Your intake answers are sent securely to the medical practice’s clinical platform, and ongoing medical discussions take place in the secure patient portal and the practice’s designated systems. The treating practice provides the legally operative telehealth consent, any applicable medical privacy notices and jurisdiction-specific disclosures through its approved patient workflow.
Reading this informational page does not itself constitute clinical consent or establish a clinician-patient relationship.
